Educational Activities of BCH

Educational activity. Educational activity of BCH is carried out in forms of teaching, scientific-methodical, scientific-organizational and consultation work, as well as leading the research and practical scientific work of students and post-graduates. BCH keeps in touch with following Institutions of higher and post-higher education: Russian State Humanitarian University (Moscow),
First of all, BCH cooperates actively with Humanitarian faculty of the Kola Branch of Petrozavodsk SU; especially fruitful is the cooperation with Chairs of philosophy and sociology, history and pedagogy, philology. Specialists of BCH ensure during several years the teaching in professional and special disciplines at departments of philosophy and sociology, history and pedagogy, philology, the North study, and others. The scientific leadership of term and graduation papers is carried out. Research workers of BCH are teaching the following disciplines: "Ethnology"
BCH arranges practical training for students of PetrSU humanitarian faculty in follows subjects: sociology, folklore, ethnography, museum activities, Archival activities. There were 12 students in 2004, and 17 - in 2005 who under guidance of BCH workers took part in field social and anthropological researches. They were carried out in Terski district of Murmansk region (Umba and nearby settlements, Varzuga village), in Apatity, Kandalaksha, Kirovsk, Monchegorsk, Olenegorsk, Polarnye Zori, Snezhnogorsk cities, as well as in Northern Karelia region. In 2004 there were a humanitarian section "Socio-economical and ethno-cultural processes in the European North: the past and the present time" of the 5th regional students conference "Natural science problems of the Arctic Region" was carried out in BCH. Proceedings of the conference were published by KSC RAS . In 2004/05 acad. year 8 students made their graduation projects, 17 - the term papers. The themes were coordinated with the BCH scientific priorities. For several years the workers of Museum are carrying out a supplementary ethno-ecological course for school children. E.Ya. Patsia, the director of the Museum, has established a circle for children of 5-7 forms, weree she carries out lectures and practices creative work at the basics of scientific researches results. There is an interesting experience of joint work with teachers of history, biology, geography, Russian language and literature from Apatity Gymnasium. A lot of professional relevant consultations are given to school teachers. Workers of the Museum-Archive constantly render consultative assistance to lecturers and students, help them carrying through the interviewing, make them acquainted with the archive and the museum. The post-graduate course in "Ethnology, ethnography, anthropology" is opened in BCH KSC RAS.
