Educational activity.

Educational activity of BCH is carried out in forms of teaching, scientific-methodical, scientific-organizational, and consultation work, as well as leading the research and practical scientific work of students and post-graduates.

BCH keeps in touch with following Institutions of higher and post-higher education:

First of all, BCH cooperates actively with Humanitarian faculty of the Kola Branch of Petrozavodsk SU; especially fruitful is the cooperation with Chairs of philosophy and sociology, history and pedagogy, philology.

Specialists of BCH ensure during several years the teaching in professional and special disciplines at chairs of philosophy and sociology, history and pedagogy, philology, the North study, and others. The scientific leadership of term and graduation papers is carried out.

In 2004 twelve students, and in 2005 - 17 students under guidance of BCH workers participated in field social and anthropological investigations. They were carried out in Terski district of Murmansk oblast (Umba and nearby settlements, Varzuga village), at Apatity, Kandalaksha, Kirovsk, Monchegorsk, Olenegorsk, Polarnye Zori, Snezhnogorsk towns, as well as in Northern Karelia.

In 2004 at BCH a humanitarian section "Socio-economical and ethno-cultural processes in the European North: the past and the present time" of the 5th regional students conference "Natural science problems of the Arctic Region" was carried out. Proceedings were published at KSC RAS.

In 2004/05 acad. year 8 students made their graduation projects, 17 - the term papers. The themes were coordinated with the scientific priorities of BCH.

During several years the workers of Museum are carrying out a supplementary ethno-ecological education of school children. Director of the Museum E.Ya. Patsia has established a circle for children of 5-7 forms, lectures are carried out, creative work is practiced, basics of scientific research are taught. There is experience of joint work with teachers of history, biology, geography, Russian language and literature (Gymnasium №1, Apatity), consultations for teachers are given.

Workers of the Museum-Archive render constantly consultative assistance to lecturers and students, help in carrying through the interviewing, make them acquainted with the archive and the museum.

At BCH KSC RAS the post-graduate course in "Ethnology, ethnography, anthropology" is opened.
